Academic research work is organised and carried out in Interdisciplinary Centres. The Interdisciplinary Centres devote themselves to research tasks that cut across competence section and/or demand interdisciplinary approaches, thus contributing to enhancement of the research performance through targeted cooperation between several Centres.
Interdisciplinary Centres are independent units within the Department. Together with the Centres, they serve the goal of setting up an institutional network structure as a system for the future internal organisation of the Department.
At present the Department has five Interdisciplinary Centres, though this number may increase as new research themes emerge:
